What it does — It is commonly used to help reinforce barrier structure and support a smooth, resilient, comfortable surface.

Typical use — It appears in barrier-focused moisturizers, serums, creams and masks, usually alongside other ceramides and lipids.

Who it suits / good to know — Well suited to dry, sensitive or barrier-compromised skin. Ceramides work best as a family within a balanced lipid blend.
