What it is — Ceramide NS (INCI: Ceramide NS), also historically listed as Ceramide 2, is a barrier lipid that helps replenish the skin's natural ceramides.

What it does — It is commonly used to top up skin lipids and support a soft, comfortable, well-protected surface feel.

Typical use — It appears in barrier-support moisturizers, serums and creams, usually within a ceramide-and-lipid blend.

Who it suits / good to know — Well suited to dry, sensitive or barrier-compromised skin, and best used as part of a balanced barrier-support formula.
