Ingredient
Elettaria Cardamomum (Cardamom) Seed Extract
Low risk
FunctionBotanical Extract
Cardamom — the spice — yields a seed extract rich in antioxidant polyphenols and a hint of its warm aroma. In skincare it appears in botanical blends for its antioxidant support rather than any headline activity, usually in the final third of an ingredient list. It is distinct from cardamom essential oil, which is a concentrated volatile and graded separately.
Why we grade it Low: EWG-style low. A seed extract (not the essential oil) used at trace levels for antioxidant conditioning; the volatile terpenes of cardamom EO are not a meaningful factor at extract concentrations.
