What it does — It activates permanent dye and lightens hair, commonly used in oxidative color and bleach systems at controlled strengths.

Typical use — Found in hair-color developers, lighteners and some oxidative treatments.

Who it suits / good to know — Relevant to those coloring or lightening hair. It is meant to be mixed and used strictly as directed and rinsed thoroughly; higher developer strengths are more likely to irritate skin, eyes and scalp.
