What it is — Kaolin (INCI: Kaolin) is a soft white clay mineral used as an absorbent.
What it does — It is commonly used to absorb excess oil from skin and scalp and to give masks and cleansers a smooth, absorbent texture; it is one of the gentler clays.
Typical use — Found in clay masks, cleansers, dry shampoos and powders.
Who it suits / good to know — Suits combination and oil-prone skin; being milder than some clays it is often better tolerated by normal skin, though dry skin should follow with hydration.
