What it is — Octisalate (INCI: Ethylhexyl Salicylate) is an organic (chemical) UV filter that primarily absorbs UVB light. It is oil-soluble and often used to help stabilise and support other sunscreen filters.

What it does — It is used in sunscreens and daytime products as part of the UV-filter system that helps protect skin from sun exposure.

Typical use — It appears in facial and body sunscreens and in some daily moisturisers and makeup with SPF, always alongside other filters.

Who it suits / good to know — Suitable for most skin types as part of a finished, tested sunscreen. Sun protection works best combined with shade, clothing and reapplication; follow the finished product's SPF directions.
