Sodium Acetate
FunctionpH adjuster
What it is — Sodium Acetate (INCI: Sodium Acetate) is the sodium salt of acetic acid, used as a buffer.
What it does — Paired with its parent acid it forms a buffer system that resists pH drift, so the formula stays in the window where its actives behave and its preservatives work.
Typical use — It is used at low levels across cleansers, hair products and skin care wherever pH stability matters.
Who it suits / good to know — It is a housekeeping ingredient with no effect of its own on hair or skin. There is essentially nothing here to react to.
Safety — DHALIORA grades it low risk in its EWG-style, ingredient-by-ingredient review. This reflects the ingredient in general and is not medical advice; patch-test if your skin is easily irritated.
