Behenyl Alcohol
FunctionEmollient
What it is — Behenyl Alcohol (INCI: Behenyl Alcohol) is a very long-chain fatty alcohol that works as an emollient and thickener. Like other fatty alcohols, it is waxy and non-drying.
What it does — It is commonly used to thicken and stabilize creams and to give a smooth, conditioned skin- or hair-feel.
Typical use — It appears in conditioners, creams, lotions, masks and balms, where it builds body and a soft finish.
Who it suits / good to know — Generally well tolerated across skin and hair types. Rich fatty alcohols can feel heavy on very oily skin, so texture preference varies by person.
Safety — DHALIORA grades it low risk: a non-drying fatty alcohol. This reflects the ingredient in general and is not medical advice; patch-test if your skin is easily irritated.
