Caprylic/Capric/Succinic Triglyceride

Low risk

FunctionEmollient

What it is — Caprylic/Capric/Succinic Triglyceride is an ester of glycerin with caprylic, capric and succinic fatty acids, typically sourced from coconut or palm kernel oil. It is a close cousin of the classic caprylic/capric triglyceride, with succinic acid in the backbone for a slightly richer feel.

What it does — It softens and smooths skin, supports the lipid film, and gives lotions a cushiony, non-greasy glide. It also helps disperse oil-soluble actives evenly.

Typical use — Found in barrier lotions, creams and baby-care formulas as a main emollient.

Who it suits / good to know — Suits all skin types including sensitive and infant skin; it is fragrance-free and non-volatile.

Safety — DHALIORA grades it low risk: a gentle, lipid-mimicking emollient with a long history of safe use. This is general information, not medical advice.

Why we grade it Low: Low risk — gentle lipid-mimicking emollient, non-sensitizing.
How grades are set — Risk reflects our own reading of publicly available safety data, an EWG-style reading shown at the worst-case grade we've assigned this ingredient across products. It isn't a third party's proprietary score, and it isn't medical advice. Always read the packaging and patch-test where indicated.
