What it does — It is commonly used as fractionated coconut oil, and it is a lightweight carrier that disperses actives.

Typical use — It is common in creams, lotions, conditioners, masks, balms and leave-in treatments, where it contributes slip and a conditioned skin- or hair-feel. The exact skin- or hair-feel it gives depends on how rich the ester or oil is and how much is used.
