A serum you finish yourself: a camellia-PDRN, 17-amino-acid spray serum activated by a fizzing vitamin-C tablet — 54 of 56 combined ingredients low-risk, zero allergen flags, fragrance-free (the two mids: a preservative booster and the tablet's lactic acid).

Details

A serum you finish yourself: drop the effervescent tablet into the plant-PDRN serum, watch it turn gold, shake — and mist. 54 of its 56 combined ingredients grade low-risk in our screen, with zero allergen flags and no fragrance.

Part one is a boosting serum built on camellia-derived sodium DNA (the plant route to PDRN — no salmon involved), a 17-amino-acid complex, five hyaluronic-acid forms, niacinamide, adenosine, glutathione and a jojoba–sweet almond–evening primrose oil trio, with turmeric root extract the brand describes as its turmeric-exosome story. Part two is a fizzing essence tablet — vitamin C, lactic acid and more hyaluronate in a solid, preserved-by-dryness form — that you drop in at first use, so the actives meet water on your schedule, not the warehouse's. Hwahae reviewers rate the set 4.64 across 201 reviews and rank it #2 among mists & oils.

  • PDRN without the fish — camellia-derived sodium DNA in both the serum and the tablet, for the skin-renewal category's hottest active in a vegan-friendly form.
  • Activated at first use — the tablet's vitamin C and lactic acid stay dry and stable until you drop them in; the serum shifts to its working gold color as it dissolves.
  • A mist that behaves like a serum — 'deeply moisturizing' (78), 'fine, even spray' (48) and 'absorbs well' (41) lead its reviews; wearable under and over makeup.
  • A quiet sheet — 56 combined ingredients, 54 low-risk, zero high, zero Hwahae allergen flags, no fragrance, no essential oils.

Hero ingredients: Camellia PDRN (Sodium DNA) + Amino Acid Complex ×17 + Hyaluronic Acid ×5 + Vitamin C & Lactic Acid tablet.

How to use: At first use, drop the tablet into the serum bottle and let it dissolve fully. Shake gently before each use, then mist over the face after cleansing — or over makeup for a midday reset. Use within the brand's recommended period after mixing.

Read before you buy: It finishes dewy, not matte — 23 of 201 reviewers note the oil-trio richness, and very oily or acne-prone skin may find it much (5 reported breakouts). The tablet adds a touch of lactic acid, so skip stacking it with strong acid toners on reactive days. And honestly: it is a young product with no awards yet, and part of its review base comes from a disclosed trial panel — we picked it on the ingredient sheet and the #2 category ranking, and we're telling you that plainly. Full ingredient list and our screening are on this page.

What we think

In favour

PDRN without the fish

Sodium DNA sourced via camellia rather than salmon, in both the serum and the tablet — the renewal category's hottest active in a plant-derived form, layered over 17 NMF amino acids and five HA weights.

In favour

Activated at first use

Vitamin C and lactic acid live in a dry tablet until you drop it in and the serum turns gold — actives meet water on your schedule, and the gardenia-tinted fizz is the visible proof.

In favour

A serum that sprays

'Deeply moisturizing' (78), 'fine, even spray' (48) and 'absorbs well' (41) lead 201 reviews at 4.64 — ranked #2 among Hwahae mists & oils, wearable under and over makeup.

Heads up

Dewy, not matte

The jojoba–almond–primrose trio finishes soft and slightly rich: 23 reviewers note the oiliness and 5 reported breakouts. Very oily or acne-prone skin should pick a water mist instead.

Heads up

Young, with a sponsored review base

No awards yet, and part of its 201 reviews come from a disclosed trial panel. We picked it on the ingredient sheet and the category ranking, and we'd rather say that than imply a longer history.

Most mists are an afterthought; this one is a renewal serum with a party trick that happens to be genuinely useful. Dry actives — vitamin C, lactic acid — degrade in water, so keeping them in a tablet until first use is sound formulation, not theater, and the camellia-derived PDRN gives the set a clean answer to the salmon sprays dominating the category. The sheet is one of the quietest we have screened at 56 ingredients: fragrance-free, zero flags, two modest mids. Buy it if your skin runs dry and you want a midday serum top-up; skip it if you want matte or have reactive, breakout-prone skin. Pair it with the Gyeol Haus jojoba mist and the shelf covers both moods — botanical-scented oil veil, or fragrance-free active renewal.

Olive Young best-sellers Korea

CNP Laboratory Propolis Energy Ampoule Mist

A derm-brand classic with a clean humectant-propolis base — but a single, fixed formula: nothing renews, nothing activates, no PDRN or amino complex.

9.2
Avene Thermal Spring Water Mist

The minimalist pole: pure thermal water, zero actives. This set sits at the other end — a renewal serum that happens to spray.

9.2
d'Alba White Truffle First Spray Serum

Korea's spray-serum standard-bearer: shares niacinamide, adenosine and HA, but runs on truffle and added fragrance — no PDRN, no amino complex, and perfumed where this set is fragrance-free.

Amazon best-sellers US

Anua PDRN Collagen Glow Facial Serum Spray

The head-to-head rival: salmon-derived PDRN in a spray serum. Tender Garden takes the plant route — camellia sodium DNA — and adds the self-activating vitamin-C tablet Anua has no answer to.

9.4
e.l.f. Power Grip Dewy Setting Spray

Also a shake-first bi-phase spray with HA and squalane — but a makeup-setting product with colorants, not a PDRN–amino-acid serum you activate with a tablet.

L'Oreal Infallible 3-Second Setting Spray

A format foil: an alcohol-and-fragrance makeup setter with no PDRN, no amino acids, no HA stack — spray format, opposite philosophy.

Questions

What is PDRN, and why camellia?

PDRN is a polynucleotide — DNA fragments used in skincare for their skin-renewal reputation. Most brands source it from salmon; Tender Garden uses sodium DNA derived via camellia, so you get the category's signature active in a plant-derived, vegan-friendly form, present in both the serum and the tablet.

Why does the tablet fizz, and why does the serum turn gold?

The tablet is an effervescent base (sodium bicarbonate + citric acid) carrying vitamin C, lactic acid and hyaluronate. Dropping it in dissolves those actives into the serum, and a gardenia fruit extract tints the mix gold — a visible marker that your bottle is activated. Fresh-mixing exists because vitamin C degrades sitting in water.

Is it fragranced?

No — no perfume, no essential oils, zero Hwahae allergen-caution flags. What you may notice is the faint natural scent of the botanical oils, which fades on skin.

Can I use it over makeup?

Yes — the 'fine, even spray' is its second most-praised trait (48 of 201 reviews). Mist from 20–30cm and let it settle. It finishes dewy; powder-matte looks will want a lighter hand.

Is the lactic acid in the tablet too much for daily use?

It is a small, diluted dose once dissolved across 90ml — mild daily keratin care, not a peel. If you already run strong acid toners or retinoids, alternate rather than stack on reactive days, and patch test 48 hours as always.
