Aluminum Distearate

Low risk

FunctionStabilizer

What it is — Aluminum Distearate is an aluminum salt of stearic acid used as an oil-phase thickener and suspension aid.

What it does — It gels oils slightly and keeps waxes and solids evenly distributed, so the balm stays smooth from first use to last.

Typical use — Rich creams, balms and makeup where the oil phase needs body and uniformity.

Who it suits / good to know — Used at low levels for texture; it stays in the formula's structure rather than penetrating skin. Distinct from the aluminum compounds used in antiperspirants.

Safety — DHALIORA grades it low risk in its EWG-style, ingredient-by-ingredient review. This reflects the ingredient in general and is not medical advice; patch-test if your skin is easily irritated.
