What it is — Astaxanthin (INCI: Astaxanthin) is a carotenoid antioxidant, commonly sourced from algae.

What it does — It is commonly used to help defend the skin against everyday oxidative stress and to support a conditioned, cared-for feel.

Typical use — It appears in antioxidant serums, creams and eye products, usually at low levels. Its deep red-orange color can lightly tint a formula.
