castor oil
FunctionEmollient
What it is — Castor Oil (INCI: Ricinus Communis Seed Oil) is a thick plant oil pressed from castor seeds, used as an emollient and shine agent.
What it does — It is commonly used to coat and condition the hair shaft and to soften the skin, giving a rich, glossy, cushioned feel.
Typical use — It appears in hair oils, balms, lip products, brow and lash products, and rich creams.
Who it suits / good to know — Often chosen for dry hair and lips and for a glossy finish. As a heavy, tacky oil it can feel too rich on very oily or blemish-prone skin.
Safety — DHALIORA grades it low risk: a well-tolerated plant emollient oil. This reflects the ingredient in general and is not medical advice; patch-test if your skin is easily irritated.
