oleic acid
Functionemollient
What it is — Oleic Acid (INCI: Oleic Acid) is an omega-9 fatty acid and the main component of oils such as olive and argan. In cosmetics it works as an emollient.
What it does — It softens and smooths the skin, adds slip and richness to a formula, and helps give a nourished, conditioned feel.
Typical use — It appears in creams, balms, cleansing oils, masks and hair conditioners, often as part of a plant-oil blend.
Who it suits / good to know — Well suited to dry or normal skin that likes richer textures. Because it is a rich, oleic-heavy lipid, some people with very oily or blemish-prone skin find heavier oleic oils feel occlusive, so texture preference varies by person.
Safety — DHALIORA grades it low risk: a well-tolerated fatty-acid emollient. This reflects the ingredient in general and is not medical advice; patch-test if your skin is easily irritated.
