phospholipids
FunctionSkin-identical lipid
What it is — Phospholipids (INCI: Phospholipids) are skin-identical lipids — the same class of molecules that make up cell membranes and part of the skin's own barrier.
What it does — They help support and reinforce the skin's moisture barrier, contribute to a soft, conditioned feel, and are often used to help carry and stabilise other ingredients in a formula.
Typical use — They appear in moisturisers, serums, barrier-repair creams and liposomal delivery systems, as both a functional and supporting ingredient.
Who it suits / good to know — Suitable for most skin types, and often chosen for dry, sensitive or barrier-stressed skin. They pair naturally with ceramides, fatty acids and cholesterol.
Safety — DHALIORA grades it low risk: biocompatible barrier lipids that are non-irritating and well tolerated (EWG 1). This reflects the ingredient in general and is not medical advice; patch-test if your skin is easily irritated.
