sesamum indicum (sesame) oil
Functionemollient
What it is — Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Oil (INCI of the same name) is a plant oil pressed from sesame seeds, naturally rich in fatty acids and antioxidant compounds. It is used as an emollient.
What it does — It softens and conditions the skin, adds a nourished feel and helps support the skin's surface, with a medium-weight texture.
Typical use — It appears in body oils, massage products, moisturisers, balms and some hair products, sometimes as a headline oil and sometimes within a blend.
Who it suits / good to know — Well suited to normal and dry skin that likes richer textures. Because it has a fuller feel, some very oily or blemish-prone skins prefer lighter oils, so texture preference varies by person. Those with a sesame allergy may prefer to avoid it.
Safety — DHALIORA grades it low risk: a well-tolerated plant oil. This reflects the ingredient in general and is not medical advice; patch-test if your skin is easily irritated.
