Cocamide MEA
FunctionFoam Booster
What it is — Cocamide MEA (INCI: Cocamide MEA) is a coconut-derived fatty amide used as a foam booster and thickener.
What it does — It is commonly used to build and stabilize lather and to thicken cleansers and shampoos.
Typical use — It appears mainly in rinse-off products such as shampoos, body washes and facial cleansers, as a secondary surfactant.
Who it suits / good to know — It is a rinse-off support ingredient rather than an active. As with many surfactants, higher-surfactant cleansers can feel drying on sensitive skin.
Safety — DHALIORA grades it mid risk in its EWG-style, ingredient-by-ingredient review. This reflects the ingredient in general and is not medical advice; patch-test before wider use if your skin is reactive.
