Coco-Caprylate/Caprate
FunctionEmollient
What it is — Coco-Caprylate/Caprate (INCI of the same name) is a coconut-derived, lightweight ester emollient.
What it does — It is commonly used to soften and smooth the skin and hair and to give a light, silky, dry-touch finish, often as a natural-leaning silicone alternative.
Typical use — It appears in lotions, creams, sunscreens, makeup and hair products.
Who it suits / good to know — Suitable for most skin types and often chosen where a non-greasy finish is wanted. Very dry skin may prefer richer emollients used alongside it.
Safety — DHALIORA grades it low risk: an inert, well-tolerated emollient. This reflects the ingredient in general and is not medical advice; patch-test if your skin is easily irritated.
