Coriolus Versicolor Extract
Also known asturkey tail mushroom extract, Trametes versicolor extract, yun zhi, Trametes versicolor
FunctionBotanical
What it is — Coriolus versicolor (now botanically Trametes versicolor) is the turkey tail mushroom, a bracket fungus that grows on dead wood across the temperate world. It is rich in beta-glucan polysaccharides and has a long history in East Asian traditional medicine.
What it does — In cosmetics its polysaccharides act as humectants and film formers, helping the scalp and hair surface hold water and feel smoother. It is not a colourant.
Typical use — Korean scalp care and skin care, usually at low levels. In the GDS Hair Dye Shampoo it is declared in the Brown and Dark Brown formulas as a supporting botanical.
Who it suits / good to know — Suits all hair types. Turkey tail is studied as an oral supplement for other purposes; none of that applies to a rinse-off shampoo, and DHALIORA makes no health claims for it.
Safety — Not restricted under the EU Cosmetics Regulation and not flagged by the CIR or SCCS. Mushroom allergies exist but are uncommon; patch-test if you have reacted to fungal ingredients before. This is general information, not medical advice.
