What it is — Cyclohexasiloxane (INCI: Cyclohexasiloxane), also called D6, is a volatile cyclic silicone that spreads easily and evaporates after application.

What it does — It is commonly used to give a light, silky, fast-absorbing slip and to carry other ingredients, leaving little residue as it evaporates.

Typical use — Appears in primers, hair serums, moisturizers and makeup where a smooth, dry-touch feel is wanted.

Who it suits / good to know — Suits those who like a weightless, non-greasy finish. Cyclic siloxanes are effective texture agents but face growing environmental scrutiny.
