What it is — Disodium EDTA (INCI: Disodium EDTA) is a chelating agent.

What it does — It is commonly used as a chelator that removes hard-water minerals and stabilizes formulas.

Typical use — It is used at low levels to bind trace metal ions, improving formula stability and the performance of preservatives. By tying up stray metal ions, it helps colour, scent and preservatives stay stable.

Who it suits / good to know — Non-active and generally inert on skin, present in tiny amounts as a stabilizer. It is a background stabilizer, not something applied for a skin benefit.
