FunctionBotanical

What it is — Guarana Seed Extract is prepared from the seeds of Paullinia cupana, an Amazonian climbing plant. The seeds contain more caffeine by weight than coffee beans, along with tannins and theobromine.

What it does — In hair care it is a scalp-conditioning botanical; caffeine and tannins give a light, refreshing feel and antioxidant support. It is not a colourant.

Typical use — Energising shampoos, scalp tonics and skin care. In the GDS Hair Dye Shampoo it is declared in the Brown and Dark Brown formulas as a supporting botanical.

Who it suits / good to know — Suits all hair types. Caffeine-containing shampoos are sometimes marketed for hair growth; DHALIORA makes no such claim for this rinse-off colour product.

Safety — Not restricted under the EU Cosmetics Regulation and not flagged by the CIR or SCCS. Caffeine absorption from a rinse-off shampoo is negligible. Patch-test if you have a history of plant sensitivities. This is general information, not medical advice.
