What it is — PEG-32 (INCI: PEG-32) is a polyethylene glycol of moderate chain length, supplied as a waxy water-soluble solid.

What it does — It holds water, adds a little viscosity, and helps a formula spread and rinse cleanly. In developers it contributes to a stable, pourable texture.

Typical use — It is used across creams, cleansers and hair colour at low to moderate levels, purely as part of the base.

Who it suits / good to know — Non-active and well tolerated. The 1,4-dioxane question that attaches to ethoxylated ingredients is a supplier purification issue rather than a property of the PEG itself.
