What it is — Polyglutamic Acid (INCI: Polyglutamic Acid) is a fermentation-derived humectant polymer made from amino-acid building blocks.

What it does — It binds water and forms a light, moisture-retaining film on the skin surface, helping give a smooth, hydrated, comfortable feel. It is often described as a large-molecule complement to hyaluronic acid.

Typical use — It appears in hydrating toners, essences, serums, creams and masks, usually as a supporting humectant.

Who it suits / good to know — Suitable for most skin types. Like other humectants, it performs best applied to damp skin and sealed in with a moisturiser, especially in dry air.
