FunctionBotanical

What it is — Radish Extract is prepared from the root or seed of Raphanus sativus, the common radish. It contains glucosinolates and their sulphur breakdown products (which give radish its bite), vitamin C and small amounts of protein.

What it does — In hair care it is a mild conditioning and antioxidant botanical. It is not a colourant and has no effect on the shade.

Typical use — Korean shampoos and scalp products, often in herbal blends. In the GDS Hair Dye Shampoo it is declared in the Brown and Dark Brown formulas as a supporting botanical.

Who it suits / good to know — Suits all hair types. Do not confuse it with Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, a fermented radish material used as a preservative booster; that is a different ingredient with a different job.

Safety — Not restricted under the EU Cosmetics Regulation and not flagged by the CIR or SCCS. Reactions to radish on the skin are rare. This is general information, not medical advice.
