Xylityl Glucoside
Also known asXylitylglucoside
FunctionHumectant
What it is — Xylityl Glucoside (INCI: Xylityl Glucoside), also known as Xylitylglucoside, is a humectant — a water-binding ingredient.
What it does — It is commonly used as a humectant that helps attract and bind water to keep skin and hair hydrated.
Typical use — It appears across toners, essences, serums, sheet masks, lotions and creams, as well as scalp and hair products, generally as a supporting hydrator. Because it is water-soluble and lightweight, it slots easily into most formats without adding heaviness.
Who it suits / good to know — Suitable for most skin and scalp types. Because humectants draw in moisture, they tend to perform best applied to damp skin and paired with an occlusive or moisturizer, especially in dry air. If your skin runs very dry, sealing it in afterwards helps lock the moisture down.
Safety — DHALIORA grades it low risk in its EWG-style, ingredient-by-ingredient review. This reflects the ingredient in general and is not medical advice; patch-test if your skin is easily irritated.
