What it is — Beta-Glucan (INCI: Beta-Glucan) is a polysaccharide made of linked glucose units. Cosmetic beta-glucan is commonly derived from yeast or oats, and is a water-soluble, film-forming sugar.
What it does — It is widely used as a soothing and hydrating ingredient that helps calm the look of stressed skin and supports the skin's surface. Its larger molecules can form a light, moisture-holding film, giving a comforting feel.
Typical use — Found in soothing serums, essences, masks, moisturizers and scalp treatments, often within recovery- or sensitive-skin ranges.
Who it suits / good to know — A good match for sensitive, dry or easily irritated skin. It pairs well with centella, panthenol and hyaluronic acid, and layers smoothly under other steps.
Safety — DHALIORA grades it low risk, describing it as a well-tolerated soothing ingredient with a strong safety record. This is general information, not medical advice.
